David Glass
|
David Glass has had an interesting career in broadcasting.
Shortly after graduating from San Diego State University, David was hired to do baseball play-by-play for the El Paso Sun Dodgers of the double A Texas League. That was the first of three minor league stops spanning nine years for professional baseball teams before landing a job with the San Francisco Giants radio crew (1981-1985) where he teamed with Lindsey Nelson for one year and Hank Greenwald for five seasons.
Other broadcast credits included NCAA football and basketball play-by-play as well as the radio voice of the Sacramento Gold Miners of the Canadian Football League.
The travel demands of sportscasting proved to be too much and Glass left broadcasting to settle down to a more normal life as a municipal bond broker for Raymond James Financial Services, staying in Petaluma with his wife and daughter. Friends encouraged him to run for political office, convincing him that the environment needed a strong advocate. There were several unsuccessful runs for the Petaluma City Council before a surprise upset victory over an incumbent Mayor.
After a little more than three years in office Glass surprised many in Petaluma when he announced he would no seek re-election. Instead Glass is thrilled to be back in the broadcasting profession talking about anything and everything with a passion and articulation that is uniquely his.
Glass welcomes your participation in the program. You can reach him by calling (707) 636-1350. |
