CAL FIRE is reminding you that it is illegal to sell, transport, or use fireworks that do not carry the “Safe and Sane” seal, as well as possess or use fireworks in a community where they are not permitted. If convicted, you could be fined up to $50,000, as well as be sent to jail for up to one year. Over the past few months CAL FIRE has been providing intelligence and support to local and federal illegal fireworks enforcement efforts. Since 2013, in the State of California, there have been over 22,000 acres burned by fireworks, causing $62-million dollars in property and content loss.

Meanwhile, the city of Cloverdale announced yesterday it is suspending all fireworks sales after the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning effective through Friday. Cloverdale is the only Sonoma County city that allows the sale and use of fireworks. Meanwhile, in Napa County, the city of St Helena has postponed its annual Fourth of July fireworks show due to fire risk. That leaves American Canyon as the only city in Napa County to host a fireworks show this year.
