A 70-year-old Montana man was found dead off the Mendocino County coast Sunday afternoon. A search party located Robert William Frost just after 3:30 p.m. in the ocean about 3,000 feet southwest of the beach where he was last seen alive. Frost’s family reported him missing an hour before and told California State Park rangers he was last spotted near the ocean’s edge. The rangers searched the area and the Mendocino Volunteer Fire Department scanned the water on personal watercraft. The Mendocino County coroner’s office did not find evidence of foul play. The coroner is still determining Frost’s cause of death.
