A Santa Rosa Police Officer suffered a facial bone fracture after being punched by a suspect. Officers responded to calls of loud fighting on Wednesday. The suspect, 25-year-old Paulino Garfias, pushed his grandmother and caused her to hit her head on a wall. When officers tried to detain him, he punched an officer hard in the face, breaking the officer’s eye socket. Police ultimately used a stun gun to subdue him. Garfias was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on $100-thousand dollars bail. He has a prior conviction from 2019 on his record, including battery on a peace officer.
