Former Santa Rosa planning director Clare Hartman is filing a wrongful termination suit against the city. Hartman says she was fired last September, after filing a request for a temporary medical accommodation. She had led the Santa Rosa Planning and Economic Development Department for 19 months. Hartman says she needed time off to tend to an illness and asked the city for intermittent leave granted through state and federal law. She claims she was discriminated against after making the request and was wrongfully fired a week later. The lawsuit says Hartman suffered financial losses, emotional distress, damage to personal and professional reputation and undue hardship due to her firing.
