Sonoma County is spending up to a half a million dollars on a consultant to help evaluate and overhaul its public records system. The county’s Information Systems Department says the goal is to create a centralized system for processing public records requests. The current system requires a request to pass through several county employees and departments. That can lead to long wait times for residents and duplicate work for county employees. The county is spending 213-thousand-50-dollars on hiring Deloitte as the consultant. Should more work be needed, the contract can go up to 500-thousand-dollars.
