A motor home driver and his dog are dead after colliding head on with a big rig on Highway 101 north of Cloverdale.
Around 7 AM Tuesday morning, the northbound motor home drifted into the southbound lanes where it ran into a semi truck. The motor home was destroyed resting in the middle of the highway while the driver and his dog were ejected onto the roadway killing them instantly. The semi truck ended up rolling down an embankment 80 feet before coming to a rest. The big rig driver was airlifted to a Santa Rosa hospital with major injuries. Southbound traffic was backed up until 11 AM when CHP were able to get one lane opened for each direction.
