California’s governor is sending a message to the White House at his first state of the state address. Governor Gavin Newsom wasted no time yesterday blasting President Trump’s recent State of the Union speech.

Newsom called Trump’s reference to a border emergency a manufactured humanitarian crisis at the border created by the current administration. Newsom didn’t mention President Trump by name, but disputed most of what Trump said about the border during last week’s speech.

Newsom redirected National Guard troops at the southern border with Mexico Monday to help with what he called the real crisis at the border, like going after illegal pot farms destroying the forests. He’s also having the troops gear up for the state’s next major wildfire.
