Today is Day Two of a planned three-day strike involving University of California workers. Thousands of AFSCME members, along with California Nurses Association and University Professional & Technical Employees, are on the picket lines due to complaints on wages and benefits.

Three protesters were injured at UCLA yesterday when a van hit them while they were walking through a crosswalk. UCLA police arrested the suspect following a four-block chase and the picketers are expected to be okay. UC officials promise they’re doing all they can to make sure students and patients do not see any major impacts. The strike is going on because contract negotiations have stalled out. Workers are expected to be back on the job by Thursday.
