A new study says California is among the states with the longest life expectancy. Rebecca Gluskin, a researcher from Measure of America, says life expectancy can range depending on several factors.
In California, the average person lives to about 80 years old. That puts the state in 4th place for life expectancy in U.S. states and territories. Gluskin says lifespan can depend on geographic location, with different cities in the state offering varied access to healthcare. Across the state, African Americans live to about age 75 and Asian Americans live to about 86. Asian communities also tend to have higher rates of education.
